Noida: The district hospital will issue digital medico-legal certificates (MLC) from next week in accident and criminal cases for a smooth process. The hospital gets 25-30 such cases a month when it has to issue the certificates that are mandatory for registering an FIR.
The report will be fed on the computer and a physical copy will also be made available to the police.
The database will only be maintained in the systems for record keeping and cross-checking in case of any clarification.
Until now, the MLCs were issued manually and in case of any confusion in the court, the doctors would personally clarify the contents of the report.
According to CMO Dr Renu Agarwal, digitization will make the procedure convenient for both doctors and police. Another official added, “The move will also help in record-keeping for the future and prevent conditions where a doctor has to present himself in court.”
The process of issuing an MLC involves registration at the emergency department after which the emergency officer at the hospital recommends tests and check-ups by a physician, orthopaedic and ENT doctors.
